Have you ever wondered who is behind the amazing work that we do? Well, the truth is . . . A LOT of people. The work that we do today would not be possible without our extensive roster of incredible volunteers and paid staff members. We are so thankful for all the busy bodies that volunteer/work towards our mission. Poverty should not be fought alone. We are in this together as we work towards more long-term solutions and supports to assist our community and partners. Every day is a good day to make a change!

Meet Nancy!

Nancy Wright-Laking has been with CFN since 2018. She is the current Chair on the Board of Directors for CFN.
Favourite part about volunteering with CFN: The wonderful people who give so much of their time to fight food insecurity and heat insecurity. I would like to see a time where no one has issues with getting enough food or enough warmth for their home. I also hope for a time where everyone is able to make a liveable wage while living in a place of safety. Favourite Food: Ham and scalloped potatoes . . . yummy! |
Meet Gay MARIE!

Gay Marie was a member of the Board of Directors from 2018 - 2024. She continues to volunteer with CFN!
Favourite part about volunteering with CFN: Gay Marie's favourite part of volunteering at CFN is the sense of satisfaction she gets from knowing she is helping to put food on the table and heat in the homes of people in her community. Favourite Food: Gay Marie's favourite food is chili, especially on a cold wintery afternoon. |
Meet Dan!

Dan Chan became a board member of the Central Food Network in 2024. His interests are in the operations and finance functions of CFN.
Favourite part about volunteering with CFN: After working for 30 years in the private sector he is excited to give back to the community to help address food, heat and financial insecurity. He also loves the opportunity to see different parts of Haliburton County. Favourite Food: Hot dogs. One of Dan’s first full time jobs was in the meat industry. Let’s just say he ate a lot of them. |

Kathy Smith joined the Board in 2023. She is presently the Secretary of the Board.
Favourite Part about Volunteering with CFN: As a fairly new resident in the area CFN has given me the opportunity to meet new people and feel connected while helping with such a worthwhile organization. Favourite Food: Fresh from the garden fruits and vegetables, and anything sweet! |

Brian Nash has been with CFN since 2015 by helping with wood deliveries for the Haliburton County Heat Bank.

Ken Mott is one of the founding members of Central Food Network. He is also the original and current food bank manager for the Food Hub/Wilberforce Food Bank.

Kat Schouten is CFN's Communications & Donor Engagement Coordinator, they joined the team in November 2023. They are behind the scenes - updating CFN's website, social media and digital channels!
Favourite part about working for CFN: I deeply believe in the power of community - and everyday I work for CFN I get to see that magic come to life. Favourite Food: Tomatoes! I would add them to every meal if I could. |
Meet Rachel!

Rachel Gillooly was hired in the spring of 2021 to fill the newly created position of Client Services & Volunteer Coordinator. She loves the level of multi-tasking required for the position.
Favourite part about working for CFN: I'm very committed to issues of social justice, accessibility and equity, so working with CFN allows me to do way more than supporting the efforts of providing food for those in need; it allows me to proactively support our community members, while at the same time working towards pushing for systemic changes to a system that is not equitable nor accessible. Bonus? The Team is awesome! Favourite Food: I'm sort of embarrassed to say that would be cheese fondue. I manage to contain myself, and treat myself once a year. Mmmm delicious! |
Meet Tina!

Tina Jackson has been a part of Central Food Network since it adopted the Heat Bank Haliburton County program back in 2016. She started as the co-founder and Coordinator of the Heat Bank program before becoming the current Executive Director of CFN.
Favourite part about working for CFN: Working with incredible people to make our community an even more caring and close-knit place. Favourite Food: That's a definite toss-up between ice cream and broccoli...but most certainly not together! |
