Central Food Network relies on an incredible team of volunteers that governs as a Board of Directors. We are grateful for the talent and expertise that each elected member brings during their term. Current terms are two-years. A new executive committee is decided by membership vote at the closest Annual General Meeting after those two-years.

Position Summaries:
Chair:
- provides leadership, mediation and guidance for the Board of Directors
- builds consensus, teamwork and trust amongst Board of Directors
- reviews agenda and applicable material for upcoming meetings
- serves on a variety of committees to assist with ongoing projects
- acts as spokesperson for Board
- evaluates and monitors organization's progress in relation to the set strategic plan
Vice-Chair:
- performs Chair responsibilities if the Chair is absent
- participates in board meetings and other ongoing activities
Treasurer:
- manages and oversees our finances
- administrates most fiscal matters
- designs an annual budget and submits to board for approval
- ensures proper development and monitoring of financial procedures and policies of CFN
- provides tax receipts to donors
- reviews various internal financial documents
Secretary:
- maintains and manages Corporate records
- takes and organizes Board meeting minutes
- distributes meeting minutes within reasonable time following a meeting
- knowledgeable of various legal documents
- receives and manages board correspondence
Director
- regularly attends board meetings
- participates actively in board decisions and activities
- properly prepares for meetings by reviewing documents beforehand and afterward
- volunteers for a variety of initiatives including, if possible, committee work
Useful Qualifications:
Being part of the CFN board is a fairly large commitment. Nonetheless, this fantastic opportunity can be extraordinarily rewarding for those that are passionate about what we do. CFN prides itself in having an extremely capable team of volunteers that step forward and act on our Board. Our current and past Board members have come from a diverse set of backgrounds which has allowed our organization to grow so quickly and strongly over the past couple of years.

Ideal candidates usually have:
- skills in community engagement and leadership
- familiarity and expertise in governance, government, philanthropy, business, and/or social services
- exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
- a thorough understanding of the effects of hunger, food and housing insecurity, as well as poverty on an individual and their family and/or community
- ability to work independently and collaboratively in compliance with the Board's Code of Conduct
- strong knowledge of and experience in cultivating lasting relationships and building consensus within an organization
- commitment to our mission and displaying integrity, high ethical standards and respect in all activities done with us
- past Board experience, specifically in non-profit
